The return to the Huayhuash mountain range has been recognized worldwide as one of the most beautiful trekkings on the planet. It is a demanding walk, in which you will have to overcome altitudes of almost 5,000 meters above sea level and distances of more than 10 kilometers per day. There are different itineraries to choose from, depending on the experience and physical condition of the group, from four days to twelve. You will pass through the ACPs of Jirishanca, Llámac, Pacllón and Huayllapa, where the community members live conserving lagoons, wetlands and queñual forests.
05:30 pickup from hotel, transport to Chiquián and after to Llamac. This day will be the route to Matacancha, where the first camp will be installed.
7:00 Breakfast, 8:30 start of the trek. Approximately 5 hours of trekking, this day starts with a climb to the STEP OF CACANANPUNTA, you start to descend and then climb to the hill of Punta Carhuac (4650m), where you can appreciate the Huayhuash mountain range and the Yerupajá. Descending in a southern direction to the Carhuacocha Lake (4100m.) A good place to camp for the fourth night.
Descend along the Queropalca River to start up south to the lakes of Atocshaico (4600m.), forced to reach the town of Huayhuash, six hours will be enough to complete the fifth night of camping.
We ascends towards Portachuelo de Huayhuash (4800m.), to give way to the imposing mountains Carnicero, Jurau and Trapecio to later, from the top of the hill, see the mountain range Raura, then go down south to Lake Viconga and turn northwest towards the Cuyoc hill. After 10 minutes of walking we will find the hot springs of Putka after 5 to 6 hours of hard trekking to reach, we take a relaxing bath. Completing the sixth night of camp.
We climb to the Cuyoc hill (5000m.) seeing on the way the south face of the Puscanturpas. Then in the highest part we begin to see the Mountain ranges of Huayhuash, Yerupajá, Rasac, Siulá, to begin to descend towards the west, towards the Huanacpatay ravine that consists of long and extensive meadows, seeing in the end the rocky west face of Puscanturpa (5442m.). This day of 5 to 6 hours of trekking closes with the seventh camp.
The trail ascends towards the hills on Tapush point (4800m.), and descends to the Susococha Lake, then ascends again to the Yauche point pass (4847m.) From where you will see the west slope of Yerupajá and Jirishanca. The pass gives way to Quebrada Huacrish taking the river of the same name that will take us to the Lakes of Jahuacocha where we will have our ninth camp.
Return to Llamac and then to Huaraz.
