This wonderful hike is around the snowy Alpamayo (considered the most beautiful mountain on the planet in the 1966 Munich scenic photography contest). This circuit is designed for those who have already had previous hiking experiences. Correct acclimatization is important to carry out this beautiful and long walk that joins two important circuits that run through the Los Cedros ravines. During the journey we will cross many Andean blue-turquoise lagoons and several passes over 4,700 m. where we will have amazing and inspiring views of mountains such as Huascarán, Santa Cruz, Taulliraju and Chacraraju.
We depart from Huaraz to the village of hualcayán. This first will present certain difficulty, since the slope is steep. You ascend from 3000msnm until the approximately 4.100. You can enjoy on first day, the black mountain range and Yanacocha Lake.
Hike of about 5 to 6 hours. This day is going to be taken in two steps: Vientona pass of 4850 masl and Hatunvientona pass of 4750 masl. This day you can enjoy the views of the Cuchillococha Lake, which is of turquoise color and also the three peaks of the snowy Santa Cruz whose highest peak is 6259 meters above sea level, in addition also the Milluacocha of 5480 meters above sea level.
This day we will arrive at the base camp of Alpamayo where you will be able to observe the pyramid form of the Alpamayo. One hikes approximately 5 hours, and the hike is relatively easy because the slope is not so inclined, you ascend from 3950 up to 4200.We can make camp and one can enter to see the lookout where you will have a beautiful view of the snowy, Alpamayo, Santa Cruz, Jancarurish, Quitaraj.
This day the hike is approximately 6 hours, and two steps: Cara pass of 4830 meters above sea level, and another pass of 4500 meters above sea level, you will have the view of the north east face of the Alpamayo and the Pukajircas. This day we will make camp in Tallapampa.
Hike of about 6 to 7 hours, we go by the small rest stop of Willca, in which some pastors inhabit and has the views of the snow peak of Pukajirkas and also the north face of Taulliraju, you can also see some lakes in the distance. We continue to pukajirka pass of 4500 meters above sea level near the glacier Pukajirka.
The hike will take approximately 6 hours and carried out on Tupa Tupa pass of 4400masl and has the views of the snow peak of Santa Cruz, Pukajirka. Camp will be made in Quishuar.
This day the hike is approximately 5 hours and is carried out on Punta Union pass of 4750 meters above sea level and has the view of the snow peaks of: Alpamayo, Quitaraju, Artesonraju, Rinrijirca Jancarurish and Pukajirka, as well as the lakess of Hatuncocha, Ichic Cocha and their habitat of birds. We setup camp in Llama corral.
We take a hike of 4 to 5 hours. Walk on a downward slope with views of Taulliraju. Arrival at the village of Cashapampa. Return to Huaraz.
