It is the best known trek in the Cordillera Blanca, and ideal for those who do not have much time to explore the mountains but want to enjoy the impressive beauty of the Andes, the flora, fauna, and lagoons, and cross the 4750 meters in Punta Union, making this trek an unforgettable experience.
Day 1: Huaraz – Chiquián – Llamac – Laguna Jahuacocha
- We will leave the city of Huaraz at 05:00 heading south.
- We will visit the city of Chiquián, at an altitude of 2,100 m.
- Our next destination is the town of Llamac, at 3300 m high.
- From there we will begin the ascent towards the Pampa Llamac Pass, from where we will have privileged views of the Yerupajá mountains and the vegetation along the way.
- After 5 hours of trekking, we will arrive at the Laguna Jahuacocha camp, at an altitude of 4050 m, where we will spend the night.
Day 2: Laguna Jahuacocha – Paso Yaucha – Laguna Jahuacocha
- Breakfast.
- We will start the trek along a path from which we will be able to see a large part of the Cordillera Huayhuash.
- If we are lucky, we will be able to see some condors in flight, a typical bird of the Andes.
- We will arrive at Paso Yaucha, at 4800 m high, where we can rest and take pictures.
- From the top we can see the Jahuacocha Lagoon and the Jirishanca.
- We will return to Laguna Jahuacocha for our second night of camping.
Day 3: Laguna Jahuacocha – Paso Rondoy Punta – Rondoy
- Breakfast and order of the camp.
- We will begin a 7-hour trek around the Jahuacocha Lagoon, passing through the Solterococha.
- We will go up to the Rondoy Pass, at an altitude of 4750 m, and we will see the majestic Yerupajá and the Jirishancas.
- Then, we will arrive at the Rondoy camp to rest and watch the sunset in the mountains.
Day 4: Rondoy – Llamac – Huaraz
- Breakfast.
- After the order in the camp, we will begin a 4-hour descent trekking.
- On the way, we will visit the Santa Luisa Mining Camp and the towns of Pocpa, until we reach Llamac.
- Return to Huaraz.
